Wedding

I have a friend that's daughter is getting married on the beach.
She asked me if I had any idea what to give a grandmother as a gift.

That really caught me of guard,  because my Mother is the hardest to buy for and come up with a gift idea.
If she doesn't have it already she will get it or doesn't want it.  She is into decluttering her life and I do not blame her.  I need to do more of it myself!

Then that night I remembered a sample pack of blank handkerchiefs that I had and suggested we embroider something on it for her.

This is what we came up with.  She is in her 80's and Caroline, my friends daughter, is going to give it to her as she walks down isle on the BEACH,  March 1, 2014.

I just love this idea!  I bet she starts crying, I know I would.  I cry at all weddings!

I wish I were going to the beach!  The weather down in the South has been pretty horrid this winter.  We are expecting more winter weather this weekend.  I am so ready for warm weather.

Embroidery

I am so excited about this latest embroidery I have done.
I am always looking for ideas for adult shirts.  I came across this one at www.Urbanthreads.com

I have made this for my Step Son that is 34 for his birthday.  He loves going to concerts and listening to music.  I thought this was perfect.

Isn't this a perfect idea.  Go to Urban Threads if you do embroidery and you will find a lot of idea like this one.  I am in no way affiliated with them.  I just want to share what I find.

Happy Valentines Day!

Boy's T-Shirt

My grandson was at a BMX track just riding around on his little bicycle.  He was offered an entrance in a race.  His bicycle was way smaller than the other boys, but he entered anyway.  He just turned 5 years old.
HE WON 3RD PLACE!

I found this embroidery from EmbroideryDesign.com
I made him this t-shirt for celebratory fun.

He loved it.  I hope to get a picture of him in it soon!

Go Henry!

Sewing Studio

Today I thought I would share a work in progress.  I don't know about you all, but I am constantly rearranging and messing with the creative space.
At the start of Its Sew Jodie I shared with you all a picture of the outside of my new studio.

Here is the area in the front room where I embroidery and sew.  I also have picture of area where I cut out.  I often do that on the floor as well!  It all depends on the size of the piece I am working on.

The blue cover is over my 10 needle embroidery machine.  The black cover is over my BabyLock Ellisimo.  The two covers along the side are my serger and addition sewing machine Pfaff 2170.

Here you will see my cutting table which always has something on it.  I have to clean it off every time I start something new.
The robes are some embroidery projects I am currently working on for a bride and her maid of honor.

You will notice I collect a lot of sewing books.  They are stacked up on the right and in the cubbies.

I hope you all are having a great week sewing and creating!

Tote Bags

I have a sewing student that comes to me on Thursday's. We have become such good friends, even with age gap of  23 years.  I love working with her because she is not afraid to try anything I propose to her and many are her own ideas!

I am bragging on her today because she just finished two tote bags. She did a wonderful job picking out fabric herself.  I think she has great taste.  Tell me what you think!

The pattern is from V & Co. And is called Abbey Bag.
I posted earlier my version done in Moda Potluck measuring tapes and Riley Blake black and white mustaches.

I would love to know if you all like this pattern as much as I do.  It is large enough to use as a great stylish market tote.

Pajama's

I embroidered NEW YEAR pj's for my grand children this Christmas.
We spent New Years Eve with them and had a Bon Fire!
It was lots of fun.  : )
They have recently moved to a new house out in the country.

I live in the city and it was so much fun getting up in the morning and seeing cows out in the fields.
It can't get much more relaxing than that!

I made a big BOO BOO on my grandson's pj's and didn't realize until my daughter pointed it out.  I used a file a just bought that said Happy New Year 2013.
Not thinking old files would still be up i bought it and was in middle of embroidery before realizing date.  I added "EVE" to bottom so it wouldn't look like a mistake. Lol

Bazze of course, didn't even notice.  He is 6.
I got a picture with the three in their pajamas.

I am a grandmother and have forgotten how hard it is to get good picture of two children, much less three!!!

Did you do anything special with your children or grandchildren for New Years.  I would love for you to share.

Happy New Year!

Deer Cap with patch

My niece is a deer hunter with her father.  I ran across this deer cap, and I apologize because I bought it over 6 months ago and can't remember where I found it.

I had been seeing the cute patches added to caps around on Pinterest and thought it would be a cute idea to do for her.
My machine doesn't have a hat hoop so I made a patch and glued with 6000 glue.

It is hard to see, but on the side the cap came with a deer already embroidered on it.
I went with bright yellow to keep it with the neon orange color.
Dark Brown was used for circle and lettering.

I think it is fun, now how much she wears it is another question!
It was fun to make.
I hope you all had fun making Christmas gifts.  I would love to see them.
