Vintage Pillowcase Dress

I finished a dress today for my grand daughter.
I bought some estate sale pillow cases from an antique shop.
This is first one finished.
I cut the dress to approximate length I wanted and cut in sleeves from top and used single fold bias tape.
I folded down 1/4" and then 3/4". I cut two pieces of elastic about 6" long and inserted.
I then made ties out of gross grain ribbon and attached at top.

Pillowcase Dress

This is a pillowcase dress I made out of Gypsy Bandana Fabric
Liz will probably be able to wear it for several years!

It really seemed big after making it.
But, by pulling ribbon tighter you make it smaller.
Her mother loved it.  I wish I had taken a picture, but forgot to try it on her.
Sorry!

Sewing

I've been making a few things for grand daughter that turned one in March.
This little coral color out fit orginally with out applique I bought from Martha Pullem ready to wear.
I simply cut out bunnies from fabric and appliqued them on.

You can see I had to put something on backside as well.

And here she is wearing the outfit.

This is Madame Alexander play doll she got from my daughter.
Her brother is in background.

Little ones are just so precious don't you think?
